Wound Healing and Hyperbarics
The Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbarics at Southwestern offers specialized wound care treatments of chronic wounds and non-responsive conditions. Wounds which do not significantly heal in three to four weeks may have underlying medical conditions that need expert care.
Current predictions forecast an increase in chronic wounds as rates of diabetes and vascular disease combined with an aging population increase the need. Likely candidates for treatment at the Center are those suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections, compromised skin grafts and flaps, and wounds that haven’t healed.
Physicians, nurses and technicians at The Center for Wound Healing and
Hyperbarics at Southwestern receive specialized training and are dedicated to wound care. The providers and staff also receive ongoing training in the latest treatments and science of wound healing.
Leading edge treatments at the Center include negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.
The center also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen at higher than normal atmospheric pressure. This advanced therapy increases the amount of oxygen in the patient’s blood and allows oxygen to pass more easily through the circulatory system and into the wound to heal it from the inside out.
No human fertility studies were performed with Valtrex, but no changes in sperm count, motility or morphology were observed in patients after 6 months of daily treatment with 400 mg to 1 g of acyclovir. For additional information about the drug, visit https://www.mcmedicalnj.com/valtrex.
